MegaFon to expand, prolong popular Apple, Samsung trade-in soon

MOSCOW, Feb 13 (PRIME) -- Trade-in for Apple and Samsung devices in stores of Russian mobile operator MegaFon has exceeded expectations by nine times, and the company will expand the range of accepted devices and the period of campaign, MegaFon said on Tuesday in a statement.

“The trade-in program enjoys significant demand among our clients, this is why we’ve decided to expand the list of accepted devices soon and we’ll take not only Samsung and Apple,” MegaFon-Retail General Director Kirill Shibanov said. “Besides our customers will be able to trade in a device purchased outside the Russian Federation.”

Launched in Moscow in December, the program allows clients to exchange their old phones at a discount for any other device, insurance or other service provided by MegaFon.

At present, MegaFon takes Apple smartphones, starting from the iPhone 4s and later models, and flagship devices from Samsung, manufactured after 2014. New goods can be bought on credit, including installments.

The most popular models exchanged under the program were the iPhone 5, 5s, 6, 6s, and 7 with 70% of the being Apples and 30% Samsungs. In return, customers chose products by Apple, Samsung, Huawei, and Xiaomi.

MegaFon will extend the program and expand the number of stores that offer the service.
